NATURAL TUNA - USES AND CONSUMPTION:

Tuna is a widely used ingredient in Sicilian cuisine. The natural one, preserved in water and salt, has a pink colour, compact when opened, but very tender. It is a very light product for those on diets to keep in perfect shape.

Tuna is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help reduce cholesterol in the arteries. It contains manganese, zinc, vitamin C and selenium, which help strengthen the immune system, and the vitamin B it contains helps strengthen bones and protect them from fractures.

A versatile product, it is the ideal ingredient for quick and healthy recipes. Rich in protein and minerals, it is the perfect food for athletes.

It goes very well with vegetables such as broccoli, cherry tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, peas and carrots.

Sauces to be used in cooking to season tuna meat include mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and salsa verde.

As far as the choice of wine is concerned, we recommend a DOC white wine from Etna, with a savoury, harmonious, fine taste and good persistence, which pleasantly enhances the aromatic flavour of the tuna.
