CHILLI PATE - USES AND CONSUMPTION:
Chilli is the common name given to the berry obtained from certain spicy varieties of plants, mainly used as a condiment.
Although it comes from the same genus as the pepper, chilli peppers differ from it in that they contain capsaicin, a chemical compound present in different concentrations depending on the variety, which is responsible for spiciness.
In ancient times, it was used in the preparation of hot chocolate, and was used as a base for various dishes. It is a widely used ingredient in the gastronomy of South America, from where it draws its origins, both for its spicy flavour and to colour dishes. Once acclimatised in Europe, it has also become a product used here. It is customary to dry and grind chilli peppers and use them to season and colour different types of sauces and dishes.
In Italy, chilli is usually used as a condiment: it can be eaten fresh, dried or as chilli pate.
Our creamy chilli pâté is suitable for topping crostini, bruschettas, sandwiches, and is excellent for seasoning first and main courses.
Studies have reported that regular intake of chilli peppers is associated with a reduction in mortality. Chilli also promotes good digestion because it increases the production of saliva and gastric juices.
